About the Club

FFA is a dynamic youth organization within Agricultural Education that changes lives and prepares students for premier leadership, personal growth and career success. Although FFA was created in 1928 as Future Farmers of America, the name was changed in 1988 to the National FFA Organization to represent the growing diversity of agriculture. Over the past 80 years, the FFA organization and agricultural education, in general, has grown to encompass all aspects of agriculture, from production farming, agribusiness and forestry to biotechnology, marketing and food processing.

Today, more than half a million student members are engaged in a wide range of agricultural education activities, leading to over 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industries. Student success remains the primary mission of FFA.

There are over half a million FFA members nationwide, with chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. In Ohio alone, over 23,000 members are active in 301 chapters across the state.

The Career Center’s local chapter is part of FFA/Ohio, District 8, Area 3, which covers 16 counties. They include Licking, Knox, Muskingum, Holmes, Guernsey, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Harrison, Belmont, Jefferson, Monroe, Noble, Perry, Morgan and Washington counties, in addition to Coshocton.

Students in the Coshocton County Career Center’s Natural Resources program are members of the local FFA chapter and have the opportunity to compete in leadership and skills contests, earning recognition when they excel. They can also earn their various FFA rank/degrees. Finally, FFA members have the chance to serve the community in a number of philanthropic endeavors throughout the school year.
